Labelled as the “Material Masters” by South Africa’s biggest print publication, Bona Magazine in 2015, and ‘already talked about on the underground Joburg fashion scene as ”Fashion Royalty”, The Times Newspaper 2013, AMEN Interior Fashion continues to break design boundaries in the local fashion and textile industry as a contemporary unisex brand based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Founded in 2014 by designers Abiah Mahlase (@abiahsuperstar) and Bradley Mutitt (@brad.muttit), the AMEN brand reflects the moods of women and men who dare to remain unique with a permissive approach to life. We specialize in bold, fun and fearless statement pieces and niche ready-to-wear retail collections. Our design ethos is versatile, merging some traditional methods and new techniques of design to form exaggerated shapes for oversized jackets, dresses, and pants in daring prints and illustrations that tend to make unapologetic statements. Our designs are a celebration of the African Gay Heritage.
Our customer is a collector of style stories and experiences, a junkie in search of the curation of fashion elements that explore contemporary African identities. They – just like the brand – look at fashion beyond the way of dressing and with the “So be it” attitude, often tapping into androgyny. Our clothing reflects the journey of sharing between Africa and the world.
